Fun pictures

Well, here are just a few fun pictures of what Parker has been up to lately. Thought you might like to see them!! He really has gotten a fun personality and he just loves to laugh and smile!! And play peek-a-boo! ;)

Trying a butter cookie for the first time

We finally put together the highchair--he has been eating in his bumbo seat. Can you tell that he loved it?!?! What a big boy!

The Ice and Snow storms of 2010

So for the first 'snow' storm of 2010, we mainly had ice and freezing rain with a few flakes of snow on top. The fun thing was that Jamie and my mom were visiting us for the weekend, so that was a nice treat!! Parker got to experience his first winter weather, but I think he really didn't understand how big of an event this was! :) Maggie, our dog, on the other hand always seems to look at the ground and wonder where her yard/grass went!! hehe

Parker's first time out in the 'snow' with Daddy

YaYa and PaPa with a bundled little man

We had to take a picture of this: he reminds us of Randy from the Christmas Story in his snowsuit!! :)
Then, a couple of weeks after the ice storm, we had a true snow!! It was beautiful and the picture perfect snow-the kind you can really play in and make snowmen, etc!! What a nice treat for us in the South!!

Look at those big snowflakes

The next morning I took Parker out and put him in his bumbo seat and made a snowball for him; as you can tell, he really doesn't know what to think about it!! He just held it!! :)

Love it!

Bruce's 30th Birthday

Well, it's official!! Bruce is now in his 30's!! For his actual birthday, Jan 11th we went to Ruth's Chris for dinner and it was YUMMY!! I highly recommend it! But little did Bruce know that I was throwing him a surprise birthday party!! That next Friday night, he knew we were celebrating it but he didn't know where/how/who/what it was going to be!! I had been thinking about how to bring in this milestone for over a year (in fact, I was pregnant with Parker discussing the details with Bruce's mom!! hehe) and I decided that we were going to have a decade's dance with everyone coming dressed up as a decade!! We had it at the Davenport in Downtown Greer which is a banquet/special occasion hall where they have dances, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, etc. It's a beautiful venue with lots of historic charm!! We hired a DJ (thanks Tony and Shannon) and a caterer (Betty, the food was fabulous!) and had a BLAST!!!It was so much fun and everyone looked fantastic in their outfits!! Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated my wonderful husband's birthday--it wouldn't have been the same if you weren't there!! Needless, to say--Bruce was surprised!! (I had blindfolded him on the way there, and already had our clothes there to change into!!--even Parker dressed as a 80's baby!!) :)

Happy Birthday Bruce!!
'Here Daddy, let me help you'

Parker all ready to go to the party!! This is actually Bruce's outfit that he wore when he was a baby--so it really is a 80's outfit!! How fun! :)

Parker's 6 month (and 7 month) catch up

Well, I can't believe that Parker is now 7 months old!!! Where has the time gone?!?! I just remember not to long ago thinking that I would never sleep more than 2 hours at a time and all I did was feed a little baby all the time!! Now, he is getting more and more active and entertaining--getting a personality and just melting his parents hearts when he laughs and smiles!! Since I didn't post a 6 month post--this will be a combo 6/7 month recap! :)

Here are Parker's stats from his 6 month check-up: He weighs 17 pounds and is in the 41%, he is 29.25 inches long and in the 99%!!!!!! (oh my goodness) and his head circumfernce is 17.32 inches and in the 55%. He is a growing boy!! Everything was great at his well-child check up and according to the doctor "is just perfect and one of the cutest babies ever!!" and that is a direct quote!! :)

We started baby food this month and he loves his fruits and veggies--esp the fruits! Started to introduce the sippy cup and it's a hit or miss with actually drinking from it and not using it as a drum, teether or something fun to drop! ;) So now along with breast-feeding 4 times a day, we are a big boy and eat in the highchair for breakfast (cereal with fruit), lunch and dinner (veggie and fruit)! So our day is jam packed with eating and playing and trying to take naps!

Parker has started saying more and more sounds like da-da, ba-ba and mmma--of course, not really referring to anything/anyone in particular but still fun!! He definitely has taken to his mommy but he lights up when Bruce gets home and he loves to sit in his lap and help him on the computer! :) He is sitting up all by himself now, army crawling/rolling all over the place and puts everything in his mouth! He is starting to wave bye-bye (but also hit-or-miss) and pulling up on somethings but mainly staying on his knees when he does(this has only been 2 times, but I am starting to get a glimpse of the future--oh my goodness!!) He loves to read books, play in his jump-jump and exersaucer, roll all over the floor and get sung too! His favorites are the itsy-bitsy spider and patty-cake (and you must do the motions!!) hehe :)

He is sleeping 12 to 12.5 hours at night, thank the Lord because naps are a different story!! You would think as much as his mom loves to sleep that Parker would too, but that is definitely NOT the case!! This has been a battle for both of us and I pray everyday that the Lord would give me wisdom and patience. It all started when Parker got his first ear infection and was congested and of course, I let him sleep in my arms. Well, that is all it took--now, he only wants to take his naps in your arms, which is sweet until you realize that you can't get anything done and you don't want it to get to the point that your 3 year old takes his naps in your arms!! So, we work at taking naps in his crib everyday and some days we are successful and other days--not so much. So hopefully, Parker will get it and I won't lose my mind!! :)

Okay, I know this has been a long one--but enjoy the pictures!! Some are from Florence when Parker and I drove down and surprised Mom and Jamie with a visit for a few days and others are just around the house!

Wearing some of Uncle Derrick's hats :)

Very happy grandparents that we surprised them with a visit

Parker watching his very first Baby Einstein DVD!

One day after work I put my scrub hat on Parker for some fun!! :)

Parker still LOVES bath time

New Year's Eve and more Christmas

For New Year's Eve this year we decided to get together with our really good friends and all of the kiddos at Bert and Hannah's lake house to spend the night and bring in the new year. Since we all have kids now, this is really the only way we can all be together past 8 pm! :) It worked out great--the kids played, ate and then got baths and were all down by 8 and then the adults had dinner and played games and quitely :) rang in 2010!! We had a great time and we are so blessed to have such amazing friends in our lives and we can't wait to have many more New Year's Eves!!

After New Year's we went to my Dad's with my sister and brother-in-law to celebrate Christmas for the weekend. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed being together with the whole family!
