Papa Carl's birthday

Papa Carl turned 86 this year and of course, we had to celebrate!! We went over to Luican and Jeanie's for a yummy cook-out and cake! It was really fun to be with family and the food was delicious! Parker got to help Papa Carl blow out his candles and open his presents, so he was happy! :) Happy birthday Papa Carl--we love you very much!

Parker got a little anxious and blew out Papa Carl's candles before we had a chance to sing!! :)

So we re-lit the candles and had round two!! :)

Sesame Street Live

Last Sunday afternoon, we took Parker to see Sesame Street Live at the Bi-Lo Center. As another bonus, Goddy and GiGi came with us!! ;) Needless to say, it was a great success and Parker LOVED every minute of it! It helps that he is such a huge Sesame Street fan!! And of course Goddy and GiGi bought Parker some treats! Who could go to see Elmo and not get a light-up Elmo toy and a really fun Elmo balloon!??! :) Thanks so much for going with us Goddy and GiGi--it made it extra special! And of course after the show we went to get pizza--what could get better than that?! :)

Labor Day Weekend

After the First Friday parade, we headed to the lake for Labor Day weekend with Lucian, Jeanie, Mama Jo, Papa Carl and the dogs, Maggie and Buddy! On Saturday morning we went swimming and Bruce got some skiing/wakeboarding time!! Then Lucian, Bruce and I got ready and had some lunch and then headed back to Clemson for the first football game!! It was really hot, but at least we got a win and it was fun to be at the game. It's always great to see our team play after such a long time and the atmosphere was perfect! :)

Sunday we spent the whole day on the lake: riding in the boat, swimming and enjoying the sun! It was so relaxing just spending time with family! Monday, it rained off and on all day--but it was perfect because we took it easy, rested, watched movies, read books, took naps and worked on the puzzle. And there is always great food when Papa Carl is involved and we ate our fair share of it! :) For a special treat, Lucian fixed amazing steaks for dinner on Sunday night and they were gone by Monday!! :)

First Friday Parade

This year we decided to take Parker to Clemson's First Friday Parade. It's a tradition in Tiger Town on the Friday before the first home football game to have the cheerleaders, Rally Cats, band, different clubs, sororities/fraternities parade down the main street in campus. It is a lot of fun, and I haven't been since college to the parade. Parker had so much fun and I loved watching him! What made it even better is the fact that we met up with the Clayton's, Hawkins (Natalie's sister and her family) and the Epting's. After the parade we went to Bowman field and had a picnic dinner and let the kids run around and play!! It was such a great evening and we also got to see the Barker's and Hendrix's (minus Matt) so that made it more fun! After all of the festivities we headed to the lake house for the weekend! I think this might be a yearly tradition! :)

Lake Weekend with Supper Club

The last weekend in August, we had most of our Supper Club families come up for the weekend at the lake. Unfortunately, the Pascazio clan couldn't come due to illness, but we did think of them often and did a shout-out Just Dance 2 for them (it's was Hey Ya!) !! :) We had alot of fun with all of the kids playing and keeping us entertained--there was 6 of them! For the most part they all played really well together and there were no accidents or illnesses! Success! :)

When the kids were asleep (naps/bedtime) the adults had a great time relaxing, laughing and playing the Wii. And there were some naps taken too! All in all it was great to get away with such great friends and spend time on the water! Thanks to the Clayton's for bringing the jet skis--way fun! :) And it was really nice surprise for the Elsken's to come up Saturday night so we could meet their precious baby boy Charlie! It was soo good to see them and Julie, you looked great and we could all tell what great parents Chris and you are!!

Beach Vacation

Ahh...our annual beach vacation to Litchfield Beach with Bruce's parents!!! Always a wonderful and fabulous time!! Parker really got into the beach this year and loved the ocean and of course, the pool! That boy would swim just about all day if you let him! :) We took it easy this year and didn't go out to eat as much, which left us time after Parker's nap to either go back to the beach/pool late in the afternoon. That was really nice and Parker loved how much free space he had to run! One night we went to Broadway and Parker got to ride the rides (even Mommy and Daddy got to ride one) and both Lucian and Bruce rode the carousel with Parker! That was his favorite ride--he loved the animals! :) Of course we went to Lee's Inlet Kitchen, another tradition, the guys played 3 rounds of golf, some shopping was involved and Bruce and I had a date night playing putt-putt and getting ice cream from Painters!! Overall, it was great to be with GiGi and Goddy and we always hate to leave. I guess that means we had an amazing time! Thanks again Lucian and Jeanie--we love you very much and look forward to next year's vacation!! :)

Tracie's Baby Shower

My beautiful younger sister is about to have her first child, a little girl!! Tracie and Jamie have decided to name her McKinnley Ryan and we are so excited to meet her! I can't believe that I am going to be an aunt! Bruce an uncle and Parker is going to have a cousin! :) YAY!!! Tracie has been on bedrest since 21 weeks and I'm so proud of her for making it this far. What an amazing Mommy she already is by taking care of this little precious one!

Right before we left for the beach for our family vacation, we had a baby shower for Tracie at my Mom's house! Jeanie came down with me and Parker and she was such a great help, both with Parker and decorating, food preparation and with the shower. My mom's best friends helped me throw the shower and it was perfect!! Thanks so much Shelly and Lill--I love you both and ya'll are so important to our family!

We had a great time in Florence the weekend before the beach--just us girls (except for Parker) that we decided it is going to be tradition!! The laughs, staying up late, playing cards and just talking was wonderful!! Looking forward to it again next year! :)

Celebrating Huey's 85th Birthday!

To celebrate Bruce's grandfather's 85th birthday we decided to have the whole Lee family up to the lake for the weekend. Huey's birthday wasn't until the 19th of August, but in order to get the family together, we had it the first weekend in August! It was so much fun having the family around and Huey and Nanny were so pleased to have all 5 of their children there, the wives and most of the grandkids! And both of his great-grandchildren were there, so it made it alot of fun! We ate alot of great food--thanks Lucian and Papa Carl and rode the boat and swam in the lake! And we also had a very entertaining game of Phase 10 on Saturday night with lots of laughs and Nanny trying to keep everyone in line and Huey from cheating! :) We had a wonderful time and it is always fun being around the Lee clan!! I think Huey really enjoyed being with his family and feeling how much everyone loves him! Happy Birthday Huey!!

Wedding Weekend in Charleston

The weekend of July 22nd we headed down to Charleston for my cousin's wedding! The rehearsal dinner was Thursday night and the wedding was Friday. Since we were going to Charleston, we stayed with our sweet and gracious friends the Talbott's!! It was perfect for Parker because he got to play with Carson, Eli, and Isaac and enjoy being with them. And Chris and Shelley were angels and kept Parker for us Thursday night while Bruce and I went to the rehearsal dinner!! Thanks again!! Friday we played with the kids and then headed to the wedding! It was so much fun and we really enjoyed being with family! Of course I didn't take that many pictures of the happy couple, but I did get some cute ones of Parker! :) He had a great time and did really well! Congrats Dallas and Vicki--we love you both very much and we are so happy to have Vicki apart of our family now!! :)

This year for Parker's 2nd birthday we decided to have a Sesame Street theme, since our son is such a HUGE fan of the show!! My sweet and very talented friend made the cutest invitations and my wonderful in-laws agreed to host the party at their house again this year!! :) My mom was able to come up for the party this year too! We added a few more larger swimming pools/water activities since most of the kids are getting bigger! and of course served pizza and cake! We ended up having a wonderful time and we're so blessed to have such amazing friends and family! Thank you to all who came and made Parker's 2nd birthday so special!! We love you!!

My Baby is 2!!

I can not believe that another year has come and gone and Parker is now 2 years old! Yep, he is now a little boy(although I will still refer to him as my baby, probably forever!) Our little munchkin is definitely keeping Bruce and me busy--he is talking up a storm, learning new words, phrases and putting small sentences together every day! He loves to read his books, sing songs, play outside in the pool, water, dirt, or really anything outside! Parker loves the lake and riding in the boat! He loves to swim and is getting really good at it too! :) He likes to play with Maggie and all of his toy cars, balls and miniature golf set! And he would watch Sesame Street all day if we let him, so we limit that time! But he is starting to like to watch real movies now: Cars, Nemo and Madagascar to name his favorites! We have been blessed beyond measure by this little boy and Bruce and I are constantly amazed at how much we love him! Happy Birthday Parker!! We love you very much!!

July 4th

This year for the 4th, we headed up to the lake. Mama Jo and Papa Carl were there waiting with tons of food from Papa Carl of course! :) Jeanie, Lucian and Buddy (the dog) made it up too! And a nice surprise was Annie and one of her friends Mrs. Ann came up on Monday. So it was nice being around family! We ate great (thanks again Papa Carl), worked several puzzles, watched movies, played in the water, went on numerous boat rides, relaxed and read our books, and watched the fireworks! It was a wonderful weekend! Parker really LOVES the water and riding in the boat--he was a little fish swimming! Can't believe he will be two in a few days!!!

Supper Club @ Falls Park

Once a month, for the past several years, a group of our friends from Clemson get together to socialize and eat some dinner! Now that we all have kids, we alternate months with the kids and then just adults (so that we actually can talk and hear each other!) :) This month we took the kids downtown to Falls Park and had a picnic!! It was so much fun and I can't remember the last time I went on a picnic! :) After eating, going down to the river and throwing rocks(Parker) and then feeding the ducks, we all headed down to the outdoor playing fountain for the kids to get some more energy out! I'm glad we were told to bring Parker's bathing suit (and a towel and change of clothes), because he got SOAKED!!! He LOVED it!! We definitely will be going back!! Enjoy the pictures! :)

Zoo Trip

A couple of weekends ago, we decided to head to the Greenville Zoo on Saturday morning before it got too hot! We met up with the Pascazio clan and had a fun time checking out all of the animals! Parker and Anna really enjoyed playing together and it was great to catch up with Lynn and Daniel--and little Miss Betty Kate was a perfect angel and slept the entire time! :) Here are a few pics!

Hilton Head

This past weekend, we took our 2nd annual no-kids vacation with some of our closest friends to Hilton Head Island! (The Pascazio's couldn't make it this year--we missed ya'll) It was a wonderful 4 day weekend and we took full advantage of our time away. Both Friday and Saturday we loaded up the coolers with sandwiches, snacks and drinks and headed to the beach and stayed all day!!! It was awesome! Perfect weather!! We ate out each night, played Just Dance 2 on the Wii, shopped, walked around Harbour Town, laughed a LOT, read books on the beach, went to the pool, and at the beach played bocce ball, ladder ball and the boys threw the football around. We had a great time and look forward to next years vacation!! ;) Thanks for the memories and good times! :)

Memorial Day weekend

For Memorial Day weekend, we were in Florence visiting my mom, sister and brother-in-law. We mainly stayed in the pool and Parker had a great time practicing his swimming! My sister is pregnant with her first child(a girl!!) and she looks so cute! We ate good, had a great time in the pool and enjoyed spending time with family! Here are some fun pics! :)

Lake Weekend

Our first trip to the lake for the summer was a couple of weekends ago and it was so nice to be there! We all did some spring cleaning, and Bruce and I washed/cleaned out the boat for the summer. Parker really loved riding in the boat this year--mainly because his lifejacket fit a little better! :) It was also Mother's Day weekend, and of course--no pictures with Mommy! Oh well...it was a nice and relaxing weekend!

Bruce and I decided to sign Parker up for some swim lessons at the YMCA this month for 4 lessons. It's more of an introduction to the water and for the parents to have some vocabulary/ideas to use with the kids. Both of us wanted Parker to have a healthy fear of the water since we are around water all summer, and he loves being in any kind of water (bath tubs, the dog's water bowl, puddles, lakes, pools, etc!) :) Its been alot of fun and Parker seems to love it!! He talks about it all week long! We actually are about to go to our 3rd lesson soon, so it's been a quick month, but fun!! :) Enjoy the future Michael Phelps! :)

Twin's Birthday Party

It's hard to believe that Luke and Madison turned 2 already!! Wasn't just yesterday that Parker was joining them crawling around on the floor?!?! Man, time really does fly by. This year was so different from last year's party, mainly because all of the 'little' kids aren't so little anymore and they were all over the place playing with all of the fun toys! Thanks Luke and Madison for inviting us to your party--we had a great time and Parker is so lucky to have such wonderful friends like you! We love ya'll very much! :)

One Friday afternoon, Bruce got off work early and we went downtown to Cleveland Park to walk around and let Parker play!! It was a beautiful afternoon, one of those perfect late Spring days!! Easter

Easter weekend means so much to our family for the main reason that Jesus has RISEN and conquered death so that we may LIVE!!! Praise to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!!! It also means being with family and enjoying our time with them (and of course, good food is involved!!) :) My mom was in town for a long weekend so Parker got to spend time with his YaYa! Easter Sunday we went to Bruce's parents church since we were having lunch with them and our church service gets out later than they do. It was a beautiful service and we really enjoyed being there with them. After church we went home to get a few things and Parker got his Easter basket from us, and a gift from YaYa. Then off to Grandaddy and GiGi's house for lunch with both sets of Bruce's grandparents too!! And a few more surprises for Parker! :) It was a GREAT day!!!

Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday of Easter weekend, Bruce's parents decided to host an Easter Egg hunt for all of Parker's friends. It was so much fun and everyone had a wonderful time!! Of course there was yummy food, cupcakes, Easter themed goodies, close to 200 eggs to find, Easter buckets with loads of treats for the kids to take home, a new massive, very fun swing set and of course it was decorated perfectly--all thanks to the generosity of Lucian and Jeanie with help from Mrs. Dianne!!! It was wonderful and I can't express how blessed we are to have such wonderful and amazing parents who continually go above and beyond!! Thanks again GiGi and Grandaddy!! :)

On April 9th my step brother Derrick married Lindsey, a sweet and precious girl!! We went down to Columbia for the outside garden wedding, but the weather was very warm (in the upper 80's) and we weren't dressed for occasion--oh well, it was pretty! Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the happy couple, or Tracie and Jamie, because we were too busy chasing little man around, but we had a good time! Parker actually received his swing set for Christmas from Grandaddy and GiGi, but we waited to put it up until the weather got warmer. For those of you who don't know, our son LOVES to swing, A LOT!! So needless to say, he was VERY excited about his own personal swing set!! Thanks GiGi and Grandaddy!! (Anyone who wants to come over and take over pushing the swing, you are MORE than welcome!! Warning: you could be there for hours!!) :)

In fact, I strained the ligaments in my hand from pushing Parker for over a hour and 1/2 for 2 days in a row--I'm not kidding!!Oh well, it was worth it--he totally enjoys it! He gets really quite and just relaxes after awhile, which I guess anyone would if someone else is doing all of the work! HA!!! ;)

We love playing on the swing set and we are very thankful for something fun to do outside!! Thanks again Grandaddy and GiGi! :)

So for Jeanie's birthday (in March...I know, a little late with the post) we went over to Lucian and Jeanie's house with Papa Carl, Mama Jo, Annie and the Weathers. It's been awhile since I have posted anything--so I am sorry if you have been faithfully checking the blog and not seen any new pictures of Parker! Over the last month or so, we have gone to Florence for a weekend, hung around the house, celebrated Valentine's Day, gone to the lake, park and taken Parker to his first Clemson basketball game. Here are some fun pictures!! :)

I can't believe that Parker is now 19 months old!! Where has the time gone?!?! He isn't supposed to be this big! :) Wasn't it just yesterday he was being swaddled and could fit in my arms??! Now, he is running around, talking and picking up new words everyday and learning so much so fast!! Man, oh man--but it is such a FUN age!! Parker had his 18 month check up at the end of January and he weighs 25.5 pounds and is 33.25 inches tall. He is right on track developmentally wise and still amazes both Bruce and I how much he is learning!! He is eating more and more with a fork/spoon (and definitely lets you know when HE wants to do it!), still LOVES to read his books, enjoys playing with Maggie and throwing/catching balls, and his toys, especially his Little People Noah's Ark and Farmhouse! :) We can't wait for spring because Parker loves to be outside and he LOVES to swing!! He is able to count to 10 (with some help...) and knows most animals and what they 'say'. Too funny! :)

We haven't been up to much these last few weeks--both Parker and I have been sick. But we are slowly recovering and looking forward to warmer weather(and not being sick!!) Here are a few pics that I have taken lately:

Today is Bruce's birthday and since our original plans were changed due to the snow/ice--we celebrated quietly at home. It was a great day spent with just the 3 of us and Bruce got to sleep-in, watch a movie during the day, had 3 meals cooked for him :) and watched another movie and had ice cream birthday cake tonight!! Happy birthday to the man I love, a fantastic father, a wonderful friend and the best husband ever!! We love you very much!! :)

The Snow of 2011!

Winter showed up on our doorstep this week. We ended up getting around 7 inches of beautiful snow Sunday-Monday. It was great to have a few days off and to be lazy and not feel like we had to do anything. Parker really didn't know what to think about all the white stuff. The ice, which started Monday afternoon/evening, which fell on top of the snow did put a damper on things but we did have a great time. Here are some pictures of the winter wonderland.

New Year's

This past New Year's, like the last 8 previous ones, we spent with some of our dear friends. This year, we had everyone up to spend the night at the lakehouse and celebrate New Year's Eve. It worked out great because we were able to have all the kids play together and the adults were able to ring in the New Year's at midnight (and not 8 pm so that we could leave and get the kids in the bed) and enjoy spending time with each other!! :) The kids (6 of them ages 3 and under) had a blast playing together and of course the adults enjoyed taking pictures of them and trying to keep them from injuring themselves!! HA!! After we ate a delicious meal (thanks Papa Carl!!) we got the kids ready for bed and then after they all were asleep, us adults hung out, played some games, watched the ball drop and talked! It was a sweet time spent with everyone and we had a wonderful New Years!! Saturday morning we ate a tasty breakfast, hung out and let the kids play some more!! When nap time came around, everyone (and I mean, everyone) rested!! :) After nap, everyone packed up and headed home and Bruce, Parker and I stayed at the lakehouse for the rest of the weekend and just relaxed!! It was a great time and thanks everyone for the precious memories!!

Christmas in Greer

After we left Charlotte Christmas Day, we headed home to unload some things and then headed over to Bruce's parents house to celebrate Christmas with the Lee side of the family. It was alot of fun seeing everyone and enjoyed catching up--and then the SNOW!!! That was wonderful; such an amazing blessed to have a white Christmas. Of course there were some snowball fights, lots of pictures taken and Bruce and I built a snowman the day after Christmas (Parker wasn't too keen on playing in the snow yet!!) :) We ended up spending the night at Lucian and Jeanie's Christmas night so that we had our "Christmas morning" on Sunday morning! It was so fun to be there with them and let Parker have Santa again!! And of course, Santa came to see us too! :) It was a very special day to spend with Lucian and Jeanie and we just loved being there to celebrate Christmas. Sunday night we headed over to Papa Carl's and Mama Jo's for The Doors--which is a Christmas tradition. And a special treat was having Whitney there this year!! All in all it was a wonderful holiday season and we are so thankful to have such amazing families!!

Christmas in Charlotte

This year for Christmas we were in Charlotte visiting my Dad and his side of the family. We went up on Thursday evening and stayed until Parker woke up from his nap on Christmas day. Christmas Day we were at my Uncle Bill and Aunt Mary's house and had a wonderful lunch and opened presents and saw what Santa had brought Parker! It was a good time and I really enjoyed spending it with my cousins, aunt and uncle, my 92 year old Grandpa and my Dad, Tracie and Jamie! Enjoy the pictures!

Hollywild

The week of Christmas, Bruce and I took Parker to Hollywild. For those of you who haven't heard of Hollywild--it's a zoo near Greenville, SC that has a ton of animals (mainly barnyard animals), and some of the animals are used in movies. During Christmas time, they open the park at night and have a drive thru lighted path (which is amazing!!) and then the really cool part is you drive into a huge open field where live deer, cows and other LARGE animals run around and you can feed them from your car!! And when I say LARGE, I mean LARGE!!! The picture of the black/white cow is from Bruce's SUV and it is as tall as our SUV and it's head barely fit into the window!! ( I was really freaked out--mainly because it was MY window the cows were trying to come into, Bruce on the other hand thought it was hilarious, and Parker didn't really have a clue!! HA!) After driving around the open field, you park and then walk into a petting zoo area with lots of other animals, there are bonfires, hot chocolate,etc. All in all, it was a fun experience and next time, I will drive and Bruce can enjoy the massive cow!! :)

Christmas in Florence

The weekend before Christmas we loaded up the car and headed to Florence to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family--my mom, sister, brother-in-law, step-brother and future sis-in-law. We had a wonderful time of relaxing, opening presents, helping Mom do some baking and of course, eating!! :) Enjoy the pictures!

This year for Anna's 3rd birthday party, we were invited to PlayNation, an indoor play set place! It was really neat and this year, Parker got to participate in all of the festivities! He went down the slides and of course, did not want to get out of the swing!! He LOVES to swing!! :) Unfortunately, I didn't get a single picture of the birthday girl!! (just awful....) But I did get a couple of Parker, Luke and Madison playing together!! Thanks so much Anna for inviting us to your fabulous birthday party!!

Thanksgiving Weekend

This year for Thanksgiving we were in Florence and had a really good time. It was emotional at times, but overall a sweet time spent with family. We went down on Wednesday night, over to Me-Mama's for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday and then came home later on Friday evening, after helping Mom put her Christmas tree up and decorate it. My mom came back up with us to spend the weekend and watch Parker while Bruce, Lucian, Jeanie and I went to the Clemson/Carolina game. It was a good weekend, not a good game! :) Oh well... Sunday evening, Lucian and Jeanie came over to help put up our Christmas tree and Jeanie and I decorated while the boys watched TV. Of course, Parker was thrilled by the lights and 'balls' or ornaments! He really has been great with the tree and really hasn't messed with it too much, other than touching 'gently' his favorite ornaments!! ;) Enjoy the pics!

Well, it was getting time for our little man to get his first haircut. So, Bruce and I finally broke down and took him to Jelly Beans on Thursday, when Bruce had a day off. It took a long time for Parker's hair to grow long enough to deserve a cut, but when I couldn't keep his hair behind his ears, it was getting time. Parker enjoyed playing with the toys once we got to Jelly Beans, but once we got him in the chair (car) he started crying. Poor thing, I think he still is a little traumatized from his hospital experience and thinks anyone 'messing' with him is NOT good! :( BUT as soon as the sweet lady was done cutting his hair, he smiled and waved and started asking for a balloon!! ;) Oh well....it was a special moment and Parker got a certificate and they saved some of his precious baby hair for me!! And all for a penny!!

Halloween and Lucian's Birthday

For this year's Halloween, we had a pretty busy weekend. Not only did we celebrate Lucian's birthday (which is the 31st) on Saturday night, but Sunday afternoon we went to Taylor's First Baptist's Fall Festival. On Saturday night, we had Lucian and Jeanie, Papa Carl and Mama Jo and Huey and Nanny over for dinner, cake and ice cream to make Lucian's birthday special!! :) I cooked Jamie's famous chili and it was delicious if I do say so myself (everyone else agreed too!!) ;) It was nice to have everyone over to spend time together and not be so rushed to get back home to get Parker's bath/bedtime routine started. We really enjoyed it and hopefully Bruce's dad enjoyed his birthday! :)

On Sunday, after church and Parker's nap--we met Lucian and Jeanie at Taylor's and went to their Fall Festival. It was packed!!! They had a cute little toddler area and Parker met up with his posse and rode the train--several times!! Of course, Grandaddy and GiGi toted Parker around and showed off the cutest lion in the world!! ;) It was fun to see the Clayton's and Pascazio's and many of our extended Taylor's family!! Then off to Papa Carl's and Mama Jo's to trick or treat, then home for dinner and to help pass out candy to the neighborhood kids!! Parker enjoyed that! :) All in all it was a great weekend--enjoy the pics!

Parker's accident/15 month check up

The original day that Parker's 15 month well-check up was scheduled, did NOT go according to plan!!! That day I had my post-op appointment earlier in the day and then Parker had his appointment later that afternoon. Jeanie was watching Parker while I was at the doctor's, and when I came home, he had just woken up from his nap. Parker was eating his snack and watching Sesame Street on the couch, and Jeanie was about to leave. Now, of course in the past couple of days, Parker had started standing up on the furniture and we have been trying to correct this behavior. But needless to say, he hadn't understood this fact!! Parker stood up, I was not even 5 feet away and as I was telling him to sit down--his foot slipped off the front of the couch and he face-planted on the coffee table, hitting NOT the padded corners, but the flat, unprotected side, busting open his lower lip!!! (uggh!!!!) SO....after going to the peds office immediately, going to the Pediatric ER @ 6pm--waiting, and waiting, and waiting....(which during this time, Parker could not eat or drink---not easy for a 15month old to understand...) we see the doctor, Parker gets stuck 3 times to start an IV :(, wait some more, Parker gets sedated, 2 dissolvable stitches are placed and we leave the ER at 11pm!!! THANK GOODNESS Bruce, Lucian and Jeanie are there with us!!!

BUT it doesn't end there!!!!! After a very stressful evening, we get Parker home and I am laying him down in his crib for bed--about 5 hours after normal bedtime, and I notice that the top stitch seems to have come out!!! This is when I break down, sobbing...because I know we have to go back to the ER. Bruce calls the ER to speak to the doctor, and then I talk to her---because I just can't bear the fact of going back, waiting, having Parker sedated again, etc!! The ER physician was very understanding and reassured me that we had to come back in order for Parker to heal well, but that he wouldn't be sedated again and we wouldn't have to wait. So....back to the ER again!! This time we arrive at 1 am, Parker gets local numbing paste placed on the lip, the nurses send us out to just hold Parker down and the ER doctor places a 'real' stitch. Parker handled it well, considering everything, and we left the ER at 2 am; getting home at 2:30am. Luckily again, Jeanie was with us and spent the night so that we could try to get some sleep before Bruce and I went to work.

It was a traumatic experience, but somehow I have a feeling that there will be more episodes similar to this---having kids (and a boy at that) means that accidents happen no matter how careful as parents we are or try to be!! And sometimes, children have to learn some consequences in order to grasp a concept!! Thankfully, Parker will never remember this (although Bruce and I will never forget) and we had such amazing family around to support us and be there for our little munchkin!! Parker did great and has healed really well--he'll probably have a very small scar, but it won't be that noticeable as he gets older. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and for reading this long post!! ;)

FYI: Parker did have his 15 month well child check-up a week later and his stats are:

25 lbs (55%)

33 inches in length (93%)

18.6 inches head circumference (52%)

Fall

Well, it's hard to believe that we have been wearing t-shirts and shorts these last few months of FALL! (until this past week at least) We have been pretty busy with Clemson football season starting, Parker's first trip to the zoo,and of course, our little man learning new things and challenging his boundaries!! ;) I had my gallbladder removed and thankfully my mom came up and took care of all of us, then my sister came up for the weekend and the next week, Jeanie came over everyday and took care of Parker, me and the house work!! (if it wasn't for such an amazing family, I don't think we would have made it!!) Thanks everyone!!Look for upcoming posts of Halloween and Parker's 15 month well child stats (and the drama surrounding...). These first couple of pics are of Parker 'helping Mommy sweep'!! Funny thing is, he has to have at least two brooms, mop, swiffer, dustpan, etc when he is 'helping!!" It's so cute and he gets so proud of himself!! :)

We met some good friends of ours one Sunday afternoon downtown for Fall for Greenville. Nicole and I took Parker and her son Ellison on the merry-go-round and the boys had fun!!

Papa Carl's 85th Birthday Party/Auburn Trip

It's hard to believe that Bruce's grandfather turned 85 this September!! Papa Carl doesn't act or seem to be that age and continues to be such a blessing to the whole family with his YUMMY food and loving spirit!! For his birthday, we had a surprise birthday party for him at the lake house and it was a lot of fun! The next day, Bruce and I along with Lucian and Billy Stewart headed out for the Clemson vs Auburn game. It was a really fun trip and the campus of Auburn is very similar to Clemson's--although we lost a close game, we still had fun! Enjoy the pics!

Labor Day Weekend (another catch up post)

For Labor Day weekend, we decided to head to the lake for the holiday. My Mom was able to come up and spend time with us and we joined Jeanie, Lucian, Papa Carl and Mama Jo for a wonderful weekend. The weather was perfect and Parker had so much fun riding in the boat and 'swimming' in the lake!! ;)

Litchfield Beach Vacation

We went on our family vacation with Bruce's parents to their place at Litchfield Beach at the end of August and had a blast! This was Parker's first real trip to the beach, although we went when he was about 4 months old--he really didn't experience 'the beach'! Needless to say, as soon as I put Parker down on the sand he immediately took off towards the water--and didn't stop when he reached the water!! NO Fear at all--a little scary for his parents!! He LOVED the ocean and enjoyed the freedom of the beach. He didn't really start playing with the sand until Wednesday, but then he of course had to taste it!! :) And he made lots of friends, walking up to just about everyone around and waving and then trying to drink from their drinks, or play with their cellphones or the kids toys!! HA!! What a friendly little guy!! ;)

We had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying being with family and just getting away. It was so fun to see Parker experiencing the beach and the newness of it all. It is amazing to see him learn new things and we are so blessed to be his parents and for the opportunities to see him grow/learn. Thanks again Grandaddy and GiGi for providing such a beautiful place at the beach--We LOVE IT!!

We went out to eat most nights, played on the beach and in the pool most days. Jeanie and I went shopping one afternoon and the guys played golf 3 different times. We also went to Broadway and Parker got to ride the boats from the old Pavilion, just like his Daddy did when he was little!! My mom got to come down at the end of the week to spend the weekend with us and got a chance to get away and try to relax. It was a great week and we made lots of memories! Enjoy the pictures--there were alot that I just had to post!! :)

I'm just going to warn you that this isn't going to be an easy post for me. But I strongly believe that I need/should remember my step-dad in such a way that I (and others) can look back on and share. As most of you know, Jamie was diagnosed with rectal cancer 2 years ago in July and unfortunately the cancer spread to his liver and then in the last 6 months to his lymph nodes and lungs. He battled bravely and was such a strong witness for the Lord throughout his treatments and his faith brought so many closer to Jesus. The Lord used his illness to heal many relationships in our family alone and we know that it was all apart of the Master's plan. But on July 31st 2010, Jamie was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and is now praising and singing his heart out in heaven!!! We are still struggling with the reality of Jamie not being here on earth with us, but the comfort that we have knowing where he is and what he is doing makes it easier to handle. There are days it still feels like he is just gone on a business trip, and others that I find hard to accept that he won't be here to see Parker grow up but I know he is watching and looking out for our family from heaven. We miss him terribly and we are very thankful for all of the thoughts/prayers from all of you and still covet them because it will continue to be a struggle for our family. Thank you for everything Jamie, you have left an example for all of us to follow and you will never be forgotten. We love you!! Looking forward to seeing you in Heaven!!

My 30th Birthday!! (another catch up)

Yep, it finally happened--I turned 30 on August 1st. It really didn't bother me turning 30, although it made me very aware of my adulthood!! When I was in my twenty's, even when I had Parker, I still didn't feel like old enough to be an adult---but now, in my 30's and with a kid, I am a REAL adult!! :) Bruce threw me a party at the lake on the 31st of July and it was perfect. I had a lot of fun with all of my friends and I really appreciate all of the hard work that he and his parents (and Mrs. Dianne) did to make it special. Thanks!

Hilton Head (catch up post)

Since leaving college Bruce and I haven't really gone anywhere for a long period of time with just our friends. But at the end of July, we went on a mini-vacation with our friends WITHOUT kids!!! YEAH!! Thankfully, Bruce's parents graciously (and very willingly) kept Parker for us. It was wonderful!!! 3 other couples went down with us to Hilton Head Island and stayed at Harbour Town and had a blast! We left on Thursday and had dinner that night down there, and then the guys got up early on Friday and played golf while us ladies just sat around and chatted!! (Imagine that, the women just talked and caught up on all things important!! hehe) ;) Then Friday afternoon we went to the beach and totally enjoyed our time there just relaxing. Friday night was dinner out in South Beach and then Saturday we spent the day at the pool/beach at another resort for the day. Saturday evening again was dinner out and then we all left Sunday morning. Our vacation was the perfect getaway and we had so much fun!!

Parker's First Birthday Party (a catch up post)

So again, I am playing catch up and will be for awhile. So enjoy the posts from the past!! :)

For Parker's first birthday we decided to have a water play/pool party!! My wonderful mother-in-law Jeanie went all out and made the party very special! (we had the party at their house and my father-in-law worked hard to get it all set up too!!) We had a water park of play things and the kiddos had a blast!! There were paper lanterns hanging from the tents, little patio chairs for the kids to sit in, bubble wands for the adults to play with :) and an ice cream sundae bar with the cake. It was so fun and I know that we had a blast and Parker will enjoy looking at the pictures when he gets older!! AND, he totally went after his cake!! It was priceless--just what you want for the first birthday cake experience!! Thanks for everyone for coming and making Parker's first birthday special!!
